- Black Acrylic Paint
- Tools needed to make a DIY Bunny Sign:
- Sanding Block
- Paint Brushes
- Heat Gun (optional)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters
- Pliers
Steps to make a DIY Bunny Sign
Step 1 – Remove the tags and do a light sanding with your block. Paint the front of the wood sign with your Ballet Slipper acrylic paint. If you have a heat gun, use it to speed up the paint drying process.
Step 2 – Dry brush some white paint over the ballet slipper on the front of your sign. If you find yourself with too much white, add some more ballet slipper paint to cover what you want. Go over the paint with your sanding block to blend in any areas that may need it.
Step 3 – Measure a 24” length of yarn 6 or 7 times (for about 160” long). Tie one end around your mason lid and wrap the remainder of your yarn around your lid until it is completely covered.
Step 4 – Once the lid edge is covered, continue wrapping around the diameter of the lid, so it is a solid yarn circle. If your yarn length is too short, tie in some more to continue wrapping the center of the lid, until you are happy with the thickness. Secure the end with hot glue.
Step 5 – Repeat the previous 2 steps to make a second and third bunny butt.
Step 6 – Take your colorful yarn and make a small pom pom by wrapping around two fingers many times until the desired thickness. Snip a small piece of yarn and insert between your fingers to tie your wrapped yarn off in the middle. Slide it off your fingers and snip the loops. If your pom pom is too large, snip the yarn with scissors.
Step 7 – Repeat the previous step to make two more pom poms. These will be your bunny tails.
Step 8 – Hot glue your pom pom bunny tails onto your mason jar lid.
Step 9 – Cut a square of white felt and fold into half. Cut out a bunny foot in a tulip shape. Open the felt and snip the middle so there are two identical feet.
Step 10 – Repeat the previous step two more times so you have 6 feet total. Use your pink paint pen to add three paw marks on the edge of your bunny feet, and a small circle in the center.
Step 11 – Use your wire cutters to cut a length of wire from your hanger. Add it into the holes on the top of your sign and bend the wire over to secure it with your pliers.
Step 12- Stencil the word “Hip” on the bottom just left of the center and “Hop” on the other side using your black paint.
Step 13 – Hot glue your bunny feet below your bunny tails on each of your mason jar lids.
Step 14 – Hot glue your first bunny butt in the center of your sign. Hot glue the others on either side. Now your sign is done!
