Steps

– Download your carrot template from the download link above and tape together – You do not need the top leafy green sections of carrot, so disregard. Focus on the traditional orange shape of the carrot. Cut out.

– Grab your canvas drop cloth and cut a large section to use for this project. Remember to fold in half so when you cut it out you will have 2 sections to attach together later.

– Place your template on top of drop cloth as an outline – tape and free hand if you want, or pin if you feel more comfortable. With good crafting scissors, carefully cut around your main shape of the carrot. Remove template and save for another fun project. You should end up with 2 carrot shaped cutouts.

– Keep pieces together and flip to the back to place your buffalo check pattern with Essential Stencil and acrylic paint. Tip* Fabric soaks up your paint so not too much. Your canvas will absorb.

– Line up your stencil and grab your stencil brush. Dip it in your paint and offload it to the canvas using the swirling method. The brushes are sturdy, and so is your stencil. Carefully replace your stencil all along the canvas until the back is covered. Tip* When lining stencil back up, be sure to use an overlap of an already painted section, so you don’t break your buffalo check pattern.

Tip* Cleaning your stencils – soak in soap and water, Clorox Wipes, or Awesome Cleaning Spray @ Dollar Tree)

– Dry with your heat gun to speed up process.

– Remember – Be sure to leave an open top area (a little lip) on your carrot before applying your stencil letters. It will get scrunched together so you need that space. Keep together and flip to the blank front side. Grab your 2 Inch Roman Serif Letters and Bunny stencil to spell out SPRING. The Bunny will replace my I in SPRING

– Eyeball where you will place your letters and under your folded down section of canvas, you will begin your stenciling the BUNNY. Tip* Don’t start at the top or it will look funny. Pay attention to the size of your bunny and letters. Measure if you feel more comfortable.

– Grab your fun Easter paints, your makeup sponge, and your plate to begin your painting. Pounce out your BUNNY stencil first, starting in the center of your carrot canvas. It will dry rather quickly. Tip* Trim off the painted section of your makeup sponge, and it is like new for your next color. Save yourself from cleaning out those brushes!

– Now grab your N, pink, and a new makeup sponge. The paint won’t go through since the drop cloth is so thick so don’t stress. Line up your letters with your stencils. Complete letters in this order to complete, G, R, P, S. You can unfold the top of your canvas if you need a little more room. Add polka dots along the edges to fill in the empty space with your fun colors! Tip* Decide what color paints work best for you. Also, you can write whatever word you like. Maybe even your kids’ names would look super cute. Just have fun.

– To finish up, make sure your carrot is lined up. Grab your hot glue and work in sections leaving an edge (about ½ edge for your seams). This is what will seal your DIY Carrot Pillow. Tip* You can begin stuffing now and work your way up towards the top if you prefer.

– To stuff, grab your filling and press it down towards the tip of your carrot. Use a paintbrush tip to make it really get in there. You can use an old pillow, new stuffing, even plastic bags to give you a crinkly sounding pillow. Make sure it is nice and full all the way up to where you cinch it.

– Grab your onion grass or fern leaves in the center opening of your pillow. Add hot glue to help it stick in place. Add more stuffing if needed to make it extra full, like Peter Cottontail’s fluffy tail.

– Take some jute, cut, and tie to close up your pillow. Be sure your fronds are centered.

Now be proud and enjoy this cute new spring home decor, crafted by you! If you love this pillow you may want to take a look at this.
