When I saw these wine bottle bags at Dollar Tree I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them.  Let’s be honest that’s usually how I am with everything I buy!  So after some time I finally figured out I needed a snowman! Yes, that’s exactly what that wine bag was meant to be. So with a few supplies I turned the wine bag into a Dollar Tree snowman in no time!

Supplies Needed

  • Dollar Tree Wine Bottle Gift Bag
  • Dollar Tree Christmas Hat Headband
  • Rice
  • Poly-fil I used this brand
  • Snowman face this is an ornament from Hobby Lobby
  • Black Straight pins

easy steps to make your own dollar tree snowman

You will use the wine bag for the entire body of the snowman .  I first filled the bottom third with rice, right to about the belt. Once that was filled I filled the “middle” section with poly-fil. It’s that simple! I like the rice for the bottom to give the snowman weight. I like the poly-fil for the middle so he feels fluffy.

Now the face took some thinking but I came up with a solution.  The top section of the bag cinches.. so I did that and than took the top third and filled with the poly-fil.  Once it was filled I took a rubber band and tied it off.  It made for the perfect little head.

now he’s all put together , let’s make him cute!

The hat was super easy, just cut the headband off of the hat and simply glue your hat to the head of your snowman.  This will hide the rubber band and make it nice and neat. Dollar Tree did have other headbands so you can use any that you like.

Once the snowman was put together I worked on the face.  I took apart the snowman ornament and used the beads for the eyes.  However I realized after taking apart the ornament that black straight pins work better.  So I use that for the eyes and mouth.

With the nose you can have some fun- you can use the nose from the ornament but how about a paper clip? Yep a paperclip.  I took a paper-clip and shaped into into a snowman nose. After I had my “nose” shape,  I sprayed adhesive on it and wrapped it with orange yarn.

This is the brand of adhesive I use Gorilla Spray Adhesive

Didn’t the nose come out so cute! I even surprised myself turning a paperclip into a snowman’s nose! Who would have thought?

So now to finish him up!

Every snowman looks cuter with some buttons and a scarf, these were things I had in my craft supplies. This Dollar Tree Snowman came together in no time! He sits proudly on our shelf and I smile every time I look at him!

I hope this inspires you to think outside of the box! Wine bottle bag= snowman… in my world.
