Seasonal DIYs· VALENTINE

I have to admit, I’m not a huge decorator for Valentine’s day.  BUT, if I can DIY some decor on a budget I’m all over it! This Farmhouse Valentine wreath was made for only $ 3.00! Yes 3.00! So it’s simple to make and budget friendly.

Supplies you will need to make your own farmhouse valentine wreath:

  • Heart Shape Wreath From DOLLAR TREE
  • 8 cup Size Coffee Filters DOLLAR TREE
  • Chalkboard Tags DOLLAR TREE
  • Jute (Twine)
  • Tea bags
  • Craft paint (I used Pink Eraser and White)

Let’s get started making this dollar tree wreath

I started with the coffee filters, you can leave them stark white but I like the aged looked. To achieve this look, I put the coffee filters in some tea. Don’t let them sit in the tea, dip them then take them out. Once dipped, wring all the water out then place on a cookie sheet to dry.

Quick Tip: You can put the filters in the oven set at 150 degrees for a quicker drying time

When the coffee filters are dry you can start prepping them for your wreath. I took about half and added some color.  To do this I folded a bunch up in half and brushed on some paint.

Now to make some petals!

Take your coffee filters and fold them in half and then in half again to make a triangle.  You can see how I made this on our FACEBOOK LIVE

You will need about 25-30 filters to make the wreath full.

After you have all the triangles you need, you can start gluing them. I get asked a lot about the glue gun I use, it’s a Ryobi, you can find it AMAZON STORE

My best advice is to glue the triangles all in the same direction; I do not fluff them out until the end. Make sure you are covering the green metal form as you are applying the filters.

Once you have it full, you can fluff them out!

Let’s add the finishing touch to our farmhouse valentine wreath

The cute chalkboard hearts came from Dollar Tree. There are 4 in a pack so they were the perfect banner to add to the wreath. I wrote LOVE using a chalkboard pen but if you don’t have one you can use white paint.  You can add whatever word you like!

I took jute to attach the hearts together.  I flipped the heart wreath over and attached it to the back, it’s best to glue the hearts together to keep them in place. I then tied the banner to back of the wreath and secured it some more with some hot glue.

This Farmhouse Valentine wreath cost only $ 3.00! I think it’s a simple elegant piece you can display proudly in your home! If you agree I would love to hear from you! Please leave a comment and remember to pin this for later.
