My love of gnomes is just as strong this year as it was last year, and for good reason! Who doesn’t love how cute they are? Every time I make a Gnome treat jar  I always try to use items I have in my craft room. This DIY gnome was less than 5.00 to make.

Supplies

  • Dollar Tree Craft Jar
  • 20mm Wooden Bead AMAZON STORE
  • Faux Fur Ribbon (Michael’s)
  • Dollar General Teddy Bear
  • Pom Poms

Steps 1-6

Glue your wooden bead to the the craft jar. I glued it slightly higher than the middle to leave enough room for the beard and hat.

Now let’s make his beard by wrapping the fur on the jar so you know how much is needed. Cut the fur ribbon in the shape of the beard, the best shape is a triangle, which is wider on top and comes to a point.

Here’s a tip, it’s best to use an exactor knife to cut the backing versus using scissors this way it gives you a clean fluffy beard.

Put a little glue the top edges of the beard and glue to the jar right below the nose, then make sure to push up the beard against the bead to cover up the side holes of the bead.

Faux Fur Ribbon

To make our hat and scarf we are going to use the bear I bought from Dollar General, he’s cute and all, but I need that hat and scarf! All you have to do is snip it right off the bear.

Now I need his filling for the legs. So make a small slit in the bear and remove some of the stuffing.

Let’s put THIS GNOME together!

Now you can attach the hat to the jar and make sure your hat is pushed right up by the nose then pull the hat far enough down because you want it hitting the nose and the beard.

To make the legs you will need to cut them out of the scarf. Since I don’t sew I decided to use the ends that were already seamed. Now all you have to do is stuff them with poly-fill. I put more towards the ends to make him look like he had boots on. I just had to add the pom pom to make him even cuter. When all done you just need to glue the legs to the lid.
