There are home decor items that just need to be practical.  With recent situations we don’t leave our home without a mask, and right now I had them in a buckle by the door.  It worked temporarily but being that mask may be around for awhile I decided I need to make something better.

Our neighbor gave us this scrap shiplap and I couldn’t have been happier.  Who doesn’t love shiplap? I took 3 of these and put them together.  Now I know you may not be lucky enough to have a neighbor that will gift you some shiplap, however you can find these at most home improvement store. You will have to cut them down but it’s possible to get this exact look.  Otherwise you can use any board you have on hand or even pallet boards.

I originally thought I would use wood glue to attach them but went a better route.  I took some 12″ paint sticks and used them as bracers for the back. Attach as many as you feel you need, in my case I used 5.  Lay them across and it’s best to use wood glue to attach them.  Now the shiplap is beautiful as is, but you know me I have to make it even prettier.

Let’s add a stencil to this diy mask station

I used Essential Stencil brand, the stencils by far are the best.  The one’s I chose were called Love Never Fails and Rose Floral Pattern.  Simply stencil the images to the shiplap.  My biggest tip for stenciling is not to use too much paint.  I also use my puppy pad to offload and it works so well!

Quick Tip-If your shiplap seems to have a slick surface, lightly sand it

Look how pretty this came out! It absolutely fits beautifully on the board.  Now you can use any stencil that fits your home! So many to choose from, this Psalm was exactly what I wanted.

To finish off the board and make it truly a masking station I added these baskets from DOLLAR TREE. We have done other projects using dollar tree items you can check them out DIY DOLLAR TREE FALL SIGN

Now when this time is over and mask won’t be a staple in our home, you can change it up by simply adding some flowers.  Or you can have it as a station to hold sunglass, maybe a wallet or even gloves in the winter.  The possibilities are endless. Hoping this inspired you to make your own! If you do make sure to tag us on Instagram #beeinspiredmarket

I know life gets busy so don’t forget to pin it for later!
