Tier Tray Spring Decor

DIY Tier Tray Spring Decor

Let me be clear from the beginning, it may be cheap to create, but it definitely doesn’t look like it. It is so cute it looks like it was purchased in one of those high-end boutique craft shops. Ahhhh! I am obsessed with this DIY Spring project. Hang out with me as I walk you step by step, teaching you how to work with Dollar Store Clings, Mod Podge, and some cute spring-colored embellishments. Remember when I said it was a quick craft? Well, I did this during my lunch break. Yep! You read that right. I know you have that kind of time, so let’s get started making your new, cute, Spring home decor.

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE YOUR TIER TRAY SPRING DECOR:

  • Window Clings from Dollar Tree
  • 4×4 White Canvas – Hobby Lobby
    • * Blank Rectangular White Canvas – Dollar Tree
  • Spring Colored Sticker Embellishments – Dollar Tree & Hobby Lobby
  • Pom Pom Ribbon – Spring Colors
  • Rick Rack Ribbon – White
  • Tiny Scraper – Essential Stencils
    • Flat edge tool
  • Deco Art Acrylic Paint: Aqua Sky, Lemon Yellow, Parasol Pink, Light Lime & White
  • Chip or paint brushes
  • Hot glue
  • Baby Wipes
  • Puppy Pads

STEPS:

1 – Grab your square canvas and your spring color paints. Add a tiny drop of each of your colors at the top of your canvas. Tip* Instead of a thick canvas, grab some blank canvas from Dollar Tree. Just be creative with what you have y’all!

2 – Let me teach you a fun new technique! With a tiny scraper or flat edge tool, start from the top and push down as you travel straight down on your canvas. Some paint remnants will get on your scraper and that is the goal for this technique. Continue to push down until your entire canvas is colored. Don’t forget to do the edges as well; mix and match a few drops here and there. Tip* Try to accomplish this in an as little amount of strokes as possible for the best effect.

3 – With your heat gun, dry your canvas(es) to speed up the crafting process. Set aside.

4 – Grab your Spring Window Clings. Flip it over to the back and paint it white to help make it less translucent. Add a thin coat with your little brush. Repeat for all the window clings you are using. Tip* The paint will dry quickly on your clings.

5 – Bring your canvas(es) back over and your Mod Podge. With your foam brush, apply a thin layer directly to your entire canvas. Then quickly add your window cling in the center. Add as many as you like.

6 – Trim window clings if necessary to fit your blank space on your canvas where you like. Be creative by wrapping clings around to the edges of your canvas. Hold in place to help it adhere quicker. Tip* Snip and cut window cling where needed.

7 – Seal your entire canvas, sides and all, with another layer of Mod Podge. Be sure to let it dry. Tip* You could stop here if you want! I just like a little extra, so extra I will add!

8 – Next grab your 3 different Spring colors of Pom Pom Ribbon and cut off small pieces, long enough to make a single loop bow of each separate color.

9 – With your white Rick Rack Ribbon, cut a tiny piece and tie all of your Pom Pom Ribbons together to make a funky little bow. Tip* If you have better ways to make a bow, do it! I am just not the best at them, and I don’t let it get me down.

10 – Once happy with the bow, hot glue in the top left corner.

11 – Next add a little more sparkle, fun, and fancy with some Spring embellishments. Add your Dollar Tree Craft stickers or even your craft flowers with a hot glue gun by your pom pom bow.

12 – Now let’s determine where to place them in your home!  Put on your Tier Tray for some added Spring Decor in your home. Tip* If you use a flat canvas, add a Jenga piece to the back to help it stand up nice and tall. Or even add a magnet to the back and stick it on that fridge! Just have fun with it.

There you have it. Such a cute and adorable, cheap, and quick craft that we were able to finish in less than 30 minutes. I just love the way this turned out. It looks so stinking cute on my tier tray on my kitchen counter.
