Instructions
- Prep your pizza pan by applying a coat of white matte finish spray paint to your entire pizza pan. Tip* You can totally cover this with chalk paint instead, but I prefer the finish from spray paint.
- Get your images cut on your Santa Cricut machine. I found this great SVG file from Design Space. Then I found the color vinyl I wanted for my project. It took about 6 mats in all for my printing. But every person’s Cricut may do something a little different. Tip* Be sure to measure the center of your pizza pan to get the correct dimensions for the design you choose to add.
- Begin weeding all of your SVG files with your weeding tool. Carefully cut out the parts you do not need as you weed. Set aside.
- Prep your pizza pan by adding your blue painters tape onto the front of your pizza pan. Tip* I prefer the smaller painter's tape for a more dramatic look, but you decide. Identify your middle point and add your spacer right in the center. Add your long painter strips on both sides of your spacer. Once strips are laid, remove your spacer and lay down again to begin adding your next strips to completely cover your board. Repeat and deep breathe. Take your time with this process.
- Begin prepping your 2 colors of paint, Ink, and Elephant color. Now that your pizza pan is covered to form your first set of lines, add your first layer of paint in your open space on the lines. Keep it nice and light.
- Carefully remove your blue painter's tape.
- Dry with a heat gun to speed up the process. Tip* You can stop here and have stripes, and not Buffalo Check.
- Repeat the step of adding your blue painter's tape to your pizza pan and going in the opposite direction to begin to form your buffalo check. Add your next layer of Elephant paint. KEEP your tape on while you dry with your heat gun.
- The tricky part is now adding again the painter's tape back on your pizza pan in the first direction you started with. Covering your original lines is important; just trust me.
- Now add your Ink black paint covering your pizza pan to finish up your buffalo check look.
- Once dry, remove all of your paint from your pizza pan. Dry with your heat gun before moving on.
- Bring over transfer tape and add your weeded Santa face to it, using your flat edge tool.
- Eyeball your design before placing it down firmly. Once happy, use your fingers to help attach at first. Then gently help it adhere with your flat edge tool.
- Once attached, slowly remove your transfer tape, being sure not to accidentally pull up your design or the paint. Add layers on all of the parts of your Santa design, reusing your transfer tape. Tip* Keep your image up on your laptop so you can reference where all of these intricate parts fit back together with ease.
- You can stop here if you want. But I wanted a Pom Pom. Grab your yarn, wrap it around your pom pom maker, and make it nice and plump. Once it is nice and full, you will cut through the center. Be sure to keep it closed as you cut. Insert your string through the center channel on your pom pom maker and tie tight. Tip* The yarn can rip on you, so be careful. You can also use cardboard circles with a hole in the center if you don’t have a pom pom maker.
- Add a drop of hot glue to the Santa hat to add that extra touch of cuteness.
- To create your hanger, grab your jute and hot glue. Make sure you place your jute down far enough on your plate to keep it nice and stable while it rests on your door. Be sure that your placement helps ensure that your pizza pan doesn't fall forward when resting on your door. Tip* Use a bit of added fabric on the back to help secure your jute.
