Instructions
Grab your Cricut and get to printing your design of choice. Don’t forget to have the image reversed. You decide what color to use for your design.
- Grab your premade gingerbread stencil on your Oracal sheet and begin cutting with your paper cutter. Get to weeding your designs using your weeding tool.
- Begin weeding your 8 little Gingerbread Stencils made on your Oracal 813 Stencil Vinyl.
- Grab your transfer tape to help transfer your vinyl to your plate surface. Use your flat-edge surface scraper to get your complete image. Tip* Be extra careful when transferring that you get ALL of the letters and design. Trust me from personal experience.
- Place your plate face down and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol to get it nice and clean.
- Begin adding the reversed image on the back of the clear plate. Using that flat surface tool, apply to the plate. Tip* This is how the plate is food-safe. If you do not have a Cricut, that is ok. You can do this same craft with window clings, stickers, decals, or purchases from ETSY instead. Cricuts aren’t needed, but man are they so fun.
- Keep the plate on the back, and begin visually adding your 8 gingerbread men stencils that you have measured to fit your plate’s edge. Use a CLOCK as your template, paying attention to 12, 6, 3, and 9 as you add your stencils. Then insert in between those empty mid-sections on the rim. Tip* If you use the large plate, use 12 gingerbread men instead.
-Work around your plate as you carefully add your gingerbread men. Be sure your stencil is down flat so you do not have any air bubbles.Tip* You could use any design for your stencils. Simple Christmas trees, gift boxes, snowmen, etc.
- Once you have all of your stencils on, grab your small brush and begin applying a thick coat of your Armour Etch Cream to scratch the glass to create your design. Don’t worry about being extra precise about this.Tip* Really glop it on there. Be sure to let your paintbrush soak in water so the etching cream doesn’t harden your brush.
- No need to seal this plate. Set a 5-10 minute timer to let the Etching do its magic. Tip* The longer you leave it on your plate, the more noticeable it is.
- Bring over your 9x13 cake pan filled with water and lightly remove your etching cream with your fingers. Be sure the stencils stay on.
- Now, remove all of your stencil remnants and be prepared to be wowed by your adorable etched gingerbread men on this $1.25 plate!
