SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE YOUR OWN DOLLAR TREE NAPKIN HOLDER:
- Dollar Tree Acorn Napkin Holder
- 3 x 5 Scrap Wooden Block
- Modeling Paste
- Flat edge tool
- “Hello Fall” Cricut Decal Sticker
- DecoArt Acrylic Paint – color Honey Brown & Burnt Siena
- Transfer Tape
- Dollar Tree Sunflowers embellishments
- Cricut
- Hot Glue Gun
- Puppy Pads
STEPS:
1 – Grab your Modeling Paste and add a tiny bit to your paper plate or workspace. You do not need a lot, y’all. Add a drop or two of Honey Brown paint and mix it together with your flat edge tool. Set aside.

2 – Grab your Dollar Tree Acorn Napkin Holder and begin to carefully take apart the base and square sides. Use a box cutter to score the wood to help remove the glue that adhered it all together. Save those extra pieces of wood for a potential craft later on. Tip* Be extra careful as this wood is not the strongest. Good thing it is just $1.25.
3 – Grab your Burnt Sienna acrylic paint and a small brush. Paint the bases of your acorn. Don’t forget to do both sides and the edges. Tip* It dries super fast so no worries if you are pressed on time.
4 – Next, paint the wooden block for the base of your napkin holder. Be sure every surface is covered. You may need to add a second coat if your wood is soaking up the paint too much.

5 – Let dry before moving on. Use a heat gun to speed up the drying process.
6 – Grab your precut Cricut decal “Hello Fall” decal and your transfer tape. Adhere it by pressing firmly with a flat edge tool.

7 – Carefully place on your dry acorn piece without a cut-out so it fits completely. Be sure it adheres as you begin slowly peeling off the backing. Tip* The tiny section of transfer tape is reusable, so hang on to it y’all!
8 – Hot glue a line on the base of your wood to add your first acorn side. Tip* Pay attention to the height of placement. You want to have it raised up a little so your napkin will stand up tall in it and not droop over the sides. Also, if you want to stop here, you can. Then just create a cute little sign to have posted on your mantle. It is another idea for you to consider DIYing!
9 – Hot glue the other side of your acorn on the wooden base. Hold in place.
10 – Grab your sunflower embellishments and play with placements, so as not to hide your “Hello Fall” sticker. Trim the wire from your Dollar Tree Sunflowers or your personal craft stash and hot glue in place. Repeat on both sides Tip* I always add my embellishments in groups of 3.
11 – Now to add some fun texture to the tops of your acorns, grab your modeling paste we worked with from the beginning of our craft. Begin adding in tiny amounts, using your flat edge tool. Smear it on using it a lot like frosting on a cupcake. Once covered to your liking, be sure to let it dry! Tip* It takes some time to dry so the thicker you add it, the longer it will take. It will level out as it dries.

12 – I should have painted the inside of my acorns but they will hopefully be hidden from my napkins so I am not really worried about it. But if you are, add some of the Honey Brown on the inside.
13 – Add regular napkins or even fancy ones to make it even cuter!
This is just the cutest little napkin holder to place on my kitchen table, all for under $5 in total cost. Using some of the items I had from my personal craft stash, I was able to get this entire look, And create it all under an hour, too.
This turned out so much cuter than I expected. Some other ideas to recreate this adorable Dollar Tree DIY craft is to find an apple, instead of the acorn, and give it as a gift to your kid’s teacher for back-to-school holding pens on their desk. A heart for Valentine’s, a tree for Christmas, a shell for summer, etc. So many ideas and so much fun!
Thanks to the help of my Cricut, the Cricut Academy, and some supplies from Dollar Tree, I was able to get this look! You can too. Thank you for crafting with me. Until next time. Happy crafting y’all!
