Kirkland-inspired art decor can be a great way to add new colors, patterns, and textures into your home. Watch as I show you how I took some inspiration and turned it into a budget-friendly decor I could afford.

DIY Kirkland Inspired Art Decor

If you have been here a while, you know I am a firm believer in, ”Why buy it, if you can DIY it?” And this project is 100% inspired by that motto. I love Kirkland decor, but don’t always love the price tag with it. So this fall inspiration project is super easy to do on a budget. Simple to replicate, fun to do, and will look just as great as that Kirkland-inspired art that I refused to spend all that money on.

I promise you will be able to create an amazing piece of art here with me. It will be your newest and cutest fall home decor yet. Let’s get crafting!

SUPPLIES NEEDED TO MAKE DIY KIRKLAND INSPIRED ART DECOR:

  • 12 x 16 White Canvas
  • Sunnyscopa Inkjet Waterslide Decal Paper Clear Paper
  • Pumpkin Printables – DOWNLOAD BELOW
  • Krylon Matte Finish
  • Baking dish or bowl full of water
  • Deco Art 24 Karat Gold acrylic paint
  • FolkArt Vern Patina
  • Sponge
  • Puppy Pads

STEPS:

1 – Grab your white canvas and your waterslide decals. Tip* If you want to do this on a black canvas you can! Just buy the Sunnyscopa Water Decal Paper that is white, not clear, so those cute pumpkin printables show up!

2 – Download your printables here and insert the paper so that you are printing on the glossy side of your waterslide decal pages.

3 – In order to seal the images, take them outside so you are in a well-ventilated area and place them in a cardboard box for convenience. You want to spray the pages going one direction and then the other direction. The goal is not to saturate your pages, but instead cover and seal the ink on your printables.

4 –  Let it dry completely. It will feel a bit rough and that is fine.

5 – Cut with scissors by hand, or a Circuit if you prefer. Be sure to cut as best as you can on the line so there is no white showing.

6 – Play with the placement of all of your pumpkins by laying them out on your canvas. Have fun with it.

7 – With your baking dish filled with a layer of water, decide which pumpkin you wish to add first

8 – Wet your design, letting it soak for about 20-25 seconds so that it will slide right off onto your canvas. Tip* You should be able to slide the backing off the paper a bit in the dish to know when it is ready to apply.

9 – Repeat with each pumpkin you add to your canvas.

10 – Do not dab the actual design because it will remove the ink. Let it dry naturally overnight. If you use a heat gun, be extra careful.

11 – If you have some water spots or ink spots on your canvas, don’t worry. Grab your Deco Art 24 Karat Gold paint and a sponge. Blot gold on to fill in your white negative space left on your canvas.

12 – Grab some turquoise paint and a clean sponge to add paint on the edges of your canvas to have a pop of color, tying in with your colors of all of the different pumpkins.

13 – Once it fully dries, seal again with the Matte Spray to finish up.
